Liberty Double Eagles
1871-S $20 MS60 PCGS. Micro S. While plentiful in grades Very Fine to About Uncirculated, the 1871-S double eagle becomes increasingly rare in Mint State. Indeed, it is virtually unobtainable above MS62. This well-struck yellow-gold example displays nearly full luster, somewhat more so on the reverse. Distributed marks are more prevalent on the obverse. Unlisted in Cherrypickers', this coin shows what appears to be the misplaced base of a 1 in the fields below the 87 in the date.
