Liberty Double Eagles
1875-CC $20 MS61 NGC. Variety 2-B. The right edge of the second C is in line with left edge of the T, and the date is positioned further right. Despite a lower mintage than several of its counterparts (111,151 coins), the 1875-CC is one of the few available (relatively speaking) Carson City double eagles in Uncirculated grades. This MS61 example boasts lively mint frost over light yellow-gold surfaces that display semiprooflike tendencies. The upper stars are needle-sharp, while the lower stars are trivially soft. The hair strands above Liberty's ear and the eagle's feathers are as bold as can be expected for the type. Scattered ticks and grazes limit the grade, but the cheek is fairly clean.
