1876-CC $20 AU58 NGC. Variety 5-A. One of 10 die pairs used to strike 138,441 double eagles at the Nevada branch mint in 1876. Variety 5-A features a network of die lines near the lower curl, a vertical die crack left of the date, and the right edge of the second C over the left edge of the T. The friction that barely prevents an Uncirculated assessment is near-indiscernible. Peach and rose-gold surfaces remain vibrant and lustrous with strong definition on the obverse stars and eagle's feathers. The date side features a touch of reflectivity in the fields.
