1899-S $20 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Sharply struck on both sides, this high-end near-Gem twenty approaches the conditionally rare (and expensive) MS65 level. With a mintage of more than 2 million pieces, the issue is readily available in lesser grades, but most survivors lack the overall quality of this Choice coin. Smooth, lustrous, and frosty surfaces display greenish-gold color and very few marks. CAC endorsement adds to the appeal. PCGS has seen only four finer coins, including three MS65 and an MS67. Population: 8 in 64+, 4 finer. CAC: 23 in 64, 0 finer (11/16).
