Liberty Double Eagles
1902 $20 MS62 PCGS. The 31,140-piece mintage of the 1902 double eagle is the lowest from the middle of the 1890s to the end of the design type in 1907. Yellow-gold surfaces exhibit well-struck design elements, indeed better than typically seen on this issue. In particular, Liberty's hair strands, the star centers, and the eagle's plumage, often weak on the 1902, are strongly detailed. Distributed scuffs, characteristic of this date, limit the grade.
