Liberty Double Eagles
1903-S $20 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The reverse legends, particularly TWENTY and UNITED, are clearly die doubled. The variety is unlisted, but a similar example appeared in our October 2015 New York Signature sale as lot 5280. Close inspection of this Choice double eagle leads to one conclusion: The Plus designation and CAC approval sticker are well-deserved. Peach and rose-gold coloration, coruscating luster, and a full strike are readily appreciable. PCGS records 16 finer grading events (11/16).
