High Relief Double Eagles
1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim -- Cleaning -- PCGS Genuine. Unc. Details. A sharply struck and satiny lemon-gold representative of the famous and low mintage High Relief type, the subject of President Theodore Roosevelt's command to "begin the new issue, even if it takes you all day to strike one piece!" Roosevelt's "pet crime" of revamping all U.S. coinage with new designs from noted sculptors began with the double eagle. This representative is mildly bright from a cleaning, and the left obverse field is lightly abraded. A lint mark is noted through the first M in MCMVII. Devoid of wear, and always in demand for its scarcity and numismatic significance.
