High Relief Double Eagles
1907 $20 High Relief, Flat Rim -- Filed Rims -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. The rims are indeed filed, but this is only evident upon close examination. Still, a slight bit of the usually seen remnant of a wire rim is just faintly evident; otherwise, the rim is flat. The devices show a slight bit of high-point friction, most likely the product of being carried in a pocket rather than actual handling in the channels of commerce. Each side is uniformly bright and there are remarkably few contact marks, again reinforcing the theory this was a pocket piece for a short time. A slight accent of reddish patina is seen over each side intermixed with the expected bright orange-gold color.
