High Relief Double Eagles
1907 $20 High Relief, Flat Rim -- Reverse Rim Filed -- NGC Details. Unc. A lustrous and well struck sun-gold example of the famous and low mintage High Relief double eagle. President Roosevelt personally ordered the issue struck, over objections by U.S. Mint officials who knew that the coins would not stack. Most quickly ended up in collector hands. The present lot is attractive despite filing on the reverse rim between 2 and 5 o'clock.
