(1834-1837) $5 C. Bechtler Five Dollar, 20 Distant, RUTHERF, XF40 PCGS. K-19, Low R.6. An evenly struck green-gold representative of this rare Bechtler variety. Careful rotation displays delicate hairlines, but flan imperfections are minimal, and the sole noticeable mark is a thin line below the first A in CAROLINA. Struck using the "new tenor" (August 1, 1834) weight of 140 grains of 20 carat gold. Certified in an old green label holder, and listed on page 389 of the 2017 Guide Book.
