(2001) $50 SSCA Relic Gold Medal "1855 Kellogg & Co. Fifty" Gem Proof PCGS. Struck on September 7, 2001, with a proof mintage for that date of 223 pieces. This 2.5-ounce round restrike from 2001 contains 887 Fine gold, obtained from melted-down Kellogg & Humbert ingots recovered from the 1857 wreck of the S.S. Central America. The mirrored apricot-gold surfaces are essentially as made. Housed in the mauve and gold insert PCGS holder of its initial issue. Comes with a brochure, certificate of authenticity #1913, a copper-and-glass frame, and outer box and slipcover. No screwdriver is included.
