1872 25C Washington Octagonal 25 Cents, BG-723, Baker-503A, Musante GW-817, Low R.6, MS62 PCGS. Within the California fractional gold series, the scarce Washington Head varieties provide a change of pace from the parade of Liberty and Indian heads. A nicely struck caramel-gold representative. Smooth save for a hair-thin horizontal mark on the cheek. BG-723 is much rarer than the other two Washington varieties, BG-722 and BG-818. Population: 7 in 62, 8 finer (11/16).
