THRACE. Abdera. Ca. 475-450 BC. AR tetradrachm (28mm, 14.32 gm). NGC XF 5/5 - 2/5, damaged. Griffin with curved wing seated left, raising right foreleg, magistrate's abbreviated name Σ-M-OP in upper field, dancing satyr in field before / Quadripartite incuse square. May 110 (A95/P89). BMC Thrace 4. Jameson 1030 (same dies). Rare! Struck on a broad flan and lightly toned, with areas of roughness; flan crack at 5:00, other surface hairline cracks.
