ACHAEMENID PERSIA. Time of Darius I to Xerxes II (485-420 BC). AV daric (15mm, 8.33 gm). NGC MS 4/5 - 4/5 scuff. Persian king or hero in kneeling-running position right, holding spear and bow; quiver over shoulder / Rectangular incuse punch. Carradice Type IIIb A/B. Almost imperceptible scuff below crown, otherwise crisply struck and nicely detailed on a broad, oval flan. NOTE: Seems to be graded on a "curve" against other nearly perfect darics (see our Platinum Night offerings), as on this piece strike / surface are by most measures exemplary.
