Jewish War (AD 66-70). AR shekel (25mm, 13.65 gm, 11h). NGC XF 3/5 - 4/5, flan flaw. Dated Year 1 (AD 66/7). Paleo-Hebrew Shekel of Israel A ([year] 1) around and above ritual chalice with smooth, wide rim, pellet on either side, the base has pearled ends, circle of dots / Jerusalem [the] holy, stem with three pomegranates, pearl at base, circle of dots. Hendin 1354. TJC 187. MCP dies O3 / R 4 (one specimens cited). Rare die combination, with only one other example known from this pairing. Flan somewhat poorly prepared to obverse right / reverse left, resulting in soft strike in those areas. Otherwise, pleasingly toned, with a large and bold omer cup.
