Galba (AD 68-69). Orichalcum sestertius (35mm, 28.97 gm, 6h). NGC XF 4/5 - 3/5, Fine Style, smoothing. Rome, December AD 68. SER SVLPI GALBA IMP CAESAR AVG P M TR P, laureate and draped bust of Galba right / HONOS ET VIRTVS, Honos, half-draped, standing right, holding vertical scepter in right hand and cradling cornucopia in left arm, facing Virtus, in short tunic and helmet, standing left, holding parazonium in right hand and vertical spear in left, right foot on boar's head, S C in exergue. RIC 476. Cohen 89. variant (obv. legend). BMCRE 256 variant (same). Dark brown patina with areas of reddish cuprite, very slightly smoothed in fields. Very rare, and possessing a powerful portrait.
