Dietrichstein. Ferdinand Josef Taler 1695 MS63 NGC, KM20, D-3376. Though not an exceptionally rare taler, these can still be considered scarce, and are especially hardly ever encountered in such an impressive state of preservation. We note that, to the best of our knowledge, the last time a graded example was offered at auction was back in 2008 in the Millennia Collection, where an MS64 and an MS63 were offered and hammered at $2,100 and $1,700 respectively. Of course, the market for high grade pieces has gone up substantially in the intervening decade, and one of these in fact sold in Germany in February, 2016 for nearly $4,000. This piece has bright and nearly flawless surfaces, and would fit in well in any high grade taler collection.
Estimate: 2000-3000 USD
