Ferdinand VI gold 4 Escudos 1749/8 S-F XF45 NGC, Santa Fe mint, KM27. Although (mis)identified as the Philip V, 1746 date of the KM23 type, in all probability the 1749/8 overdate based on the following reasoning: the lys flowers on this coin match the style of 1750-1749 per Restrepo. Additionally, traces of a "6" or a "8" can be seen under the last digit in the date, the "6" being discarded based on the aforementioned style of the lys flowers. Moreover, the obverse die is the same as the 1751-dated coin plated in Restrepo (making the use of a 6 year-old die much more improbable in 1751). Very rare with the date visible and in uncommonly pleasant preservation for this rarely encountered type.

Estimate: 5000-7000 USD
