Louis XIV 2 Louis d'Or 1695-I VF35 NGC, Limoges mint, KM303.11, Gad-260. This coin was overstruck another coin as was common practice or even double struck possibly. Above the King's forehead the letter F.R. can be seen twice at the 1 o'clock position and traces of the under coin are visible as well. The surfaces are fairly lustrous for the designated grade and a bit of flatness exists as can be seen. NGC's web price guide states the following in lieu price and mintage : "1695I Rare, 2 Louis D'or". There are no other known examples that NGC has certified as this is the only one to be certified and quite possibly may be unique or one of a handful to exist.
Estimate: 2000-2500 USD
