Louis XV gold 1/2 Louis d'or 1722-K MS63 NGC, Bordeaux mint, KM460.4, Fr-457, Gad-327. About as nice as can be, with lemon-tinged surfaces that glow with unending mint luster and boldly-defined design motifs that are incredibly well-struck and raised in comparison to the surrounding fields. Remnants of a previous strike are faintly visible across the reverse, but only add to the allure of this selection. From the scarcer-seen mint of Bordeaux, this two-year issue which features the young portrait of the King is presently the only certified example of the type by either major grading service, and is sure to elicit much attention from the collectors of high-end conditional gold rarities.
