France
Republic "Paris Commune" 5 Francs 1871-A MS65 PCGS, Paris mint, KM823, Gad-744. 'Trident' privy mark. A key French issue of the latter 19th century, minted for a short period from March 18th through May 28th during the insurrection in Paris that feared the temporary government would return France to a monarch system. This coin, having received the coveted Gem grade, is easily among the most pleasing we've encountered of the type, with well-preserved surfaces that bask in original tone, the centers having a slight lilac and rose hue, while olive-gold tone highlights many of the raised surfaces. Given its combination of history and elite condition, we suspect this coin to be highly sought by collectors of crown-sized world types.
