French Colony Piastre 1895-A MS64 NGC, Paris mint, KM5, Lec-275. "27.215 GR." variety. The obverse luster produces a beautiful glow in the fields with elegant frost over the design motif. Along the edge, the word "FRANCAISE" is highligted by a pastel lemon and magenta color. The reverse has an equally pleasing strike with more frostiness overall and a pleasant hint of light amber tone. The last example we sold in our 2014 March CICF sale brought $1,527.50 graded MS63 by PCGS. This example is tied with two others at NGC for the finest specimen certified to date, and given it marvelous eye-appeal, is sure to attract strong interest.
