Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle. Georg II Wilhelm 1/2 Taler 1705 MS64 NGC, KM369. A scarce one-year issue that was struck upon the death of George II Wilhelm with a broad flan that hosts a boldly-rendered portrait of the King and a beautifully-styled inscription on the reverse. Light tone drapes the otherwise silvery surfaces in a lustrous shade of champagne, while original luster playfully brightens the fields upon rotation. Hints of darker tone are noted near the tops of both sides, and add a colorful touch to this already attractive selection. Presently the finest certified example of the type by either major grading service.
