Hesse-Darmstadt. Ludwig VIII gold "Hunting" Ducat ND (c. 1740-1750) MS62 PCGS, KMX-M5, Fr-1226, Hoffmeister-3922. A rare pictorial ducat of extreme desirability that can be attributed to the intricately engraved boar roaming the plains motif. On the reverse, four 'L's are conjoined and capped with crowns to form a cross. Bright throughout, this example exhibits vivid orange-gold color and a fully detailed strike that absolutely benefits the appearance. Visually insignificant handling defines the grade. A coin that is certain to attract spirited bidder competition.
