Anne gold 1/2 Guinea 1713/1 MS62 PCGS, Royal mint, KM527, S-3575. Essentially as-made with flashy mint luster retained in the fields, no major instances of contact over the surfaces and impressively crisp detail remaining inside Queen Anne's hair curls. Numerous instances of haymarking (a result of improper alloy mixture) seen over both sides however, and ultimately prevent what would have otherwise been a near-Gem or finer grade. Still, a definite rarity this finely preserved; in fact, only the fourth example of any Anne 1/2 guinea (struck 1702-1714) that we've sold in Mint State, with the last instance bringing $5,405 in our New York sale last year.
Estimate: 4000-5000 USD
