George IV Proof 1/2 Crown 1826 PR64 NGC, Royal mint, KM695, S-3809. Even pale golden tone covers both sides with highly mirrored fields and sharp edges. Close inspection reveals several intentional marks to the right of the crown, one possibly representing a "£" symbol, and while we're unsure of the meaning, it closely parallels the marks we've seen on a proof guinea (www.ha.com/3037*31127) of a slightly earlier date. An intriguing coin.
