Carlos I Proof 1000 Reis 1899 PR62 Ultra Cameo NGC, Lisbon mint, KM540, Gomes-13.02. Unlisted in Proof in SCWC, this type is listed as a Prooflike issue in Gomes, but is nonetheless clearly a presentation striking. The rims are squared throughout and the devices exhibit an appealing frosty cameo, lightly grazed along the highpoints. The fields are reflective but lack depth due to the heavy die polish in preparation for the striking of this piece, as well as a small group of contact marks behind the bust of Carlos.
