Castile. Alfonso VIII (1158-1214) gold Maravedí (Morabitino) 1220 Safar (AD 1182) MS63 PCGS, Toledo mint, Fr-101, Cay-1015. A rare early issue of this type without "ALF" in the obverse field, well-struck overall with lustrous surfaces over a slightly wavy flan. The centering is perfect, which is fairly typical for this generally carefully produced issue, with clear legends and stellar eye-appeal.
