Basel. City silver Medal ND (c. 1645) AU50 PCGS, 50mm, by F. Fechter, Leu SM-1052, Winterstein-132. A beautiful city-view medal of the city of Basel with stunning engraving throughout. The reverse depicts Daniel in the lions' den with the latin legend, "God willing, no one will be harmed." Likely this refers to the medal's issuance near the end of the Thirty Years' War, a conflict that had ravaged Central Europe and would not officially end until 1648.
