La Rioja. Republic 4 Reales 1849-RB MS66 NGC, La Rioja mint, KM20. Stunning quality for this often-circulated, crudely produced issue, with a strike that's as full as we've encountered on the type and cascading luster over both sides that immediately propels light into the viewer's eye when the coin is rotated beneath a lamp. The addition of very few marks on the surfaces further separates this Gem from other survivors. More than likely the finest extant of the type and presently, the only example of any date to have been certified by NGC above the MS63 grade.
