Charles III 8 Reales 1774 PTS-JR MS66 NGC, Potosi mint, KM55. Although it's commonly known that a small hoard of this date was located some years ago, and that as a result Mint State coins are available from time to time, that should in no way diminish the significance of this premium Gem. As the only MS66 graded by NGC or PCGS for this entire Charles III bust type, it stands to quite possibly be the single finest Bolivian 8 Reales of Charles III. Not only that, but we spent some time inside the NGC and PCGS population reports and could find no other bust 8 reales in MS66 from any Spanish Colonial mint. As such, this coin may in fact be a candidate for the finest bust 8 reales of Charles III period! While there are certainly many fine coins that have yet to be certified, the exceptional quality of this piece can hardly be questioned. Possessing a full strike with no noticeable handling, light tone and semi-prooflike fields, the greatness of this coin is truly a sight to behold. A museum-quality coin in all respects.

Estimate: 4000-6000 USD
