João V gold 12800 Reis 1730-M MS63 NGC, Vila Rica mint, KM139, LMB-O286. Perhaps most notable for its impressive vibrancy throughout, with a sharp bust of João V and full denticles on both sides that aid the appearance even more. While well-concealed by the design, several marks in the centers undoubtedly prevented an even higher grade on this rarely rivaled issue. As it is, one of only two examples graded MS63 by NGC, with the other example selling in our 2011 September Long Beach auction for $29,900. A rare second opportunity for those that missed out last time.
Estimate: 10000-15000 USD
