Charles IV 8 Reales 1794 So-DA MS65 NGC, Santiago mint, KM51. A very scarce and highly coveted issue from the Santiago mint, and perhaps the mint's ultimate surviving representative of the Charles IV type, with surfaces that have navigated the perils of time remarkably unscathed. A full Gem, the strike on both sides approaches completeness with surfaces that hold amazingly few instances of handling; while trivial in nature, a small internal flan crack is also mentionable on Charles' clothing and is noted for the sake of accuracy. Not only are the surfaces elite however, but the eye-appeal is also phenomenal, with shimmering luster that dances around the fields and a light golden tone that transitions to blue along portions of the legends. Easily the finest example that we have observed and in a league of its own at the grading services as well, with no other Chilean 8 reales of Charles IV having received a grade above MS63 at NGC or PCGS. A singular opportunity as such!
