Napoleon "Bare Head" 5 Francs 1807-A MS65 NGC, Paris mint, KM685, Dav-84, Gad-582. Perhaps the finest extant survivor of this rare transitional issue that combines the early bare head bust of Napoleon with the later wreath reverse type that stops short of intersection at the top. Truly, even more lovely than the assigned Gem grade suggests, with an entirely full strike that renders the entire design in medallic dimension and surfaces that are absent any mention-worthy marks. Lavish tone that explodes into vibrant multicolored shades when rotated beneath a light propels the eye-appeal to further rarified heights. The only example of the type thus far graded by NGC and a rarity of monumental importance for the specialist.
