Louis-Napoleon 5 Francs 1852-A MS67 NGC, Paris mint, KM773.1, Dav-94. "Barre" signature. Struck just prior to the end of the Second Republic when Louis-Napoleon would take the title of Emperor Napoleon III, this excellent representative absolutely captivates. Presenting needle-like sharpness across the devices--particularly atop the visage of Louis-Napoleon as well as throughout the intricacies of the reverse wreath. The immense flan maintains a smooth, satin texture while undisturbed luster flows freely across the fields, illuminating hints of gold and aqua that line the legends and cling to the raised features. A coin that could not be more choice in appearance, nor in a finer state of preservation, decidedly worthy of being the centerpiece in its next collection.
