Louis-Napoleon Proof 5 Francs 1852-A PR67 NGC, Paris mint, KM773.1, Dav-94. "Barre" signature. A superior example of this singular issue that was struck prior to the end of the Second Republic, presenting pinpoint detailing throughout Louis-Napoleon's portrait as well as the reverse wreath design, and surfaces that are drenched in glowing magenta iridescence. Subtle reflectivity attractively gleams from the mirrors and light contrast is noted between the satin-textured central motif and the surrounding fields. Very much a conditional rarity at this level of preservation, and a selection that is sure to receive much attention from the collectors of scarce 19th century French crowns.
