Pomerania. Swedish Occupation - Karl XI 1/3 Taler (1/2 Gulden) 1675 MS65 NGC, Stettin mint, KM262, Ahlstrom-131. An impressive Gem from this fascinating period when Sweden had extended its influence to the southern Baltic coast due to military accomplishments made during the Thirty Years' War. Scarce in any condition, this piece is almost certainly the finest extant of the type (it is the single finest graded at NGC), with full mint luster in the fields and attractive tone at the lowpoints of Karl's bust details, as well as around the supported arms on the reverse, that brings superb character to the surfaces. The strike, bold throughout, and an absence of marks solidifies this coin's high technical state. Fully worthy of attention not only from the specialist, but also from the collector that broadly collects issues with historical intrigue.

Estimate: 1000-1500 USD
