Victoria gold Sovereign 1848 MS66+ NGC, Royal mint, KM736.1, S-3852C. Fully lustrous, with surfaces that are drenched in silk and attractive notes of amber that dapple the legends. Because of the plus designation, this coin has reached a plateau that no other examples of this date have achieved, setting it apart from its competitors in a big way. As one would expect at this level, the raised motifs are outstanding---and the aid of magnification confirms as such--with highpoint relief noted throughout the Queen's effigy and throughout the complexities of the reverse shield. A stray wisp and touches of linear tone are noted in the fresh obverse fields--all future indicators of pedigree--and the radiating glow from the backdrop decidedly entrances the eye. A jewel worthy of its accolades, and sure to bring great attention from the collectors of high-end Victorian Sovereigns.

Estimate: 5000-7000 USD
