Kingdom of Napoleon. Napoleon Specimen 5 Lire 1812-M SP65 NGC, Milan mint, KM10.7. Small letters variety. Clearly a well-preserved offering and likely an early strike due to the Specimen designation, with massive surfaces that present a dove-gray base and exciting golden tone that clusters around the soaring design features. Upon closer inspection, the eye is immediately given a front row seat to the fantastic illustrations which have been deeply impressed and sheathed in satin, rendering a subtle cameo contrast throughout. A number of character-building identifiers are present in the form of faint adjustment marks, an inconsequential rim bruise, and a handful of insignificant strike-throughs; however, the fields are generally free of any improper post-strike handling. Very rarely encountered at the Specimen level, and choice as such.
