Genoa. Ligurian Republic 2 Lire 1798 MS66 NGC, KM264. A radiant jewel from the fleeting French client-state that was formed by Napoleon, showing exquisite tone in shades of gray and gold, with much iridescence that underlies the blanket of patina. The French-styled motifs are aesthetically produced, with incredible detailing noted across the raised images, and flashy luster brightens from the recesses, likely an indicator of a Specimen strike. While a number of Mint State examples of this issue have been offered, as of yet, none have matched the esteemed level of presentation seen here.
