Sardinia. Carlo Emanuele III 1/2 Scudo 1756 MS64 NGC, KM47. A superior example of the type, with sublime cabinet patina in varying shades of gray, with subtle pearlescent color hidden in the recesses throughout both sides, interlaced with moments of lavender-tinged luster. The centers instantly attract the eye, with sharp detailing noted throughout the complex designs, and with fields that are essentially free of any mishandling. Bordering on Gem, and very much a conditional rarity at this level of preservation.
