Vittorio Emanuele III silver Prova 5 Lire 1914-R MS66 NGC, Rome mint, KM-PR22, Pag-220. An outstanding issue that presents the stately bust of Vittorio Emanuele III with deeply patinated surfaces that are dressed in satin and artistically portrayed designs that are rendered up the highest points. Of particular interest is the reverse which depicts the Quadriga--a chariot drawn by four horses, driven by an allegorical female figure, usually Fame or Victory--symbolizing triumph and success; while "PROVA" is simply stamped above, confirming the Pattern strike. In regards to technical quality, this Gem stands out as a obvious representative, with open fields that remain free of even the most basic handling marks and unimpeded luster that gently glows around the illustrations. Superb and currently unsurpassed at this certified level.
