Meiji gold 10 Yen Year 4 (1871) MS66 NGC, KM-Y12, JDNA-01-2. Struck from freshly prepared dies, with numerous instances of die polish lines visible upon close inspection and areas in the centers that contain near prooflike flash. As the grade suggests, the preservation is rather exceptional as well, with only the tiniest evidence of contact visible upon close inspection and central definition that remains crisp on both sides, the dragon's scales showing notably coarse segmentation. As a single-year issue struck in the early Meiji period, a coin that always finds itself in high demand, especially when found at this rare premium Gem grade.
