William III gold Proof 10 Gulden 1850 PR66 Cameo NGC, KM95, Fr-340. A coin of extreme rarity, and one that combines soaring design elements with low-lying fields, all of which instantly attract the eye. In looking at the obverse, the portrait of the King is exceptional--every detail so deeply impressed and with a subtle cameo frost that easily drapes his visage--while the surrounding mirrors are seemingly unending in their reflection. The reverse is every bit as exciting, with crisp highpoint leaf definition that cradles the central shield motif and bursts of rose-tinged gold that flashes from behind. An obvious jewel and the perfect example for type set inclusion, likely to remain unmatched at this technical quality for quite some time.
