Carl XIV Johan Speciedaler 1834 MS62 NGC, Kongsberg mint, KM301, Dav-241, Ahlstrom-12. An extremely pleasing example for the grade, with steel-gray coloration in fields on both sides and dappled russet patination around the obverse legends. A near-Gem on the obverse, the surfaces showcase satiny luster that is undisturbed by marks, while many small blended instances of contact sit in the reverse fields and account for the grade. Like essentially all Norwegian speciedalers of the period, extremely elusive at the Mint State grade, with the present example being the finest seen by NGC with a single higher certified example at PCGS.
