Carl XIV Johan Speciedaler 1836 MS65 NGC, Kongsberg mint, KM301, Dav-241, Ahlstrom-14. Similarly amazing quality to the 1827-dated example in this sale, but preserved in a contrasting, yet equally desirable state. Toned in a different pattern than the 1827 piece, this example exhibits less uniform color placement, with deeper earthen shades mostly clinging to the outer devices, while paler olive, tan and golden hues adorn the centers. Similarly however, the surfaces remain in an incredible Gem state, with signs of handling being all but invisible and the strike being precise. When placed side by side with the 1827 piece, truly an incomparable tandem, both being mystifying relics of the period that conjure up feelings of both amazement and disbelieve. An unbelievable second opportunity for the specialist to acquire a Gem of the type!
