Provisional Republic copper Pattern 1/4 Peso (2 Reales) 1823 MS64 Brown NGC, Lima mint, cf. KM138. Very similar to the issued design, with the primary difference being the denominations expression in fraction form (it reads 'QUARTO PESO' on the circulating coinage) and the absence of Lima's monogram as well as the "V" assayer. Very well preserved with faded mint red color at the edges and glossy brown centers. No spots or evidence of handling are seen, however several minor planchet irregularities (as are almost always present on the circulating coinage) are noted and surely accounted for this example just missing the Gem grade. The only example of this pattern we've encountered and undoubtedly extremely rare.

Estimate: 3000-5000 USD
