João VI gold 6400 Reis (Peça) 1822 MS67 NGC, Lisbon mint, KM364. Mesmerizing quality for a gold coin of this period, with coruscating luster that enlivens both the obverse and reverse and surfaces that, as the grade suggests, remain in near-pristine quality. Close inspection reveals a faint instance of planchet adjustment marks running through João's hair, but they are noted purely for accuracy's sake and are of little visual consequence. As one might expect, no examples rival this illustrious piece at NGC, with the next closest examples having been graded MS65.
