Louis I 2 Reales 1724 S-J MS66 NGC, Seville mint, KM329, Cal-42. 'LUDOUICUS' variety. An important and highly collectible pistareen, laudable not only for the near-pristine state in which it amazingly remains, but also for its issuance during the short-lived reign of Louis I, whose reign, at just over seven months, was one of the shortest stints in history. This piece remains in a nearly tone-free state with absolute radiance emanating from the fields and only small hints of golden tone that cling to portions of the raised design over each side. The surfaces are very minimally marked as the grade suggests. Noteworthy as the only Mint State example of this issue (and variety) thus far graded by NGC.
