Charles III 8 Reales 1788/78 M-M MS64 NGC, Madrid mint, KM414.1, Cal-883. Quite possibly the finest survivor of the date, this near-Gem boasts complete originality, with gray tone throughout the well-struck centers and an attractive arrangement of mixed green, blue and gold coloration that caresses the legends. An extreme lack of marks are encountered even for this lofty grade, and when magnified inspection takes place, the bold remnants of a 7 are visible beneath the first 8 in the date. As the single finest that we've seen, and the single finest graded by NGC, a coin that is certain to excite both the Spanish specialist and world crown enthusiast.
